Lemon Ginger Tea

Lemon Ginger Tea - A Bit of Thyme - 5.jpg

Recipe

In my opinion, besides peppermint tea, there’s nothing more calming and gut healing, than lemon ginger tea.

When my health was at it’s worst, and I was unable to eat food, vomiting and suffering through nausea and diarrhea frequently, I found lemon ginger tea to be soothing, healing, and comforting. Ginger is a wonderful, natural healing remedy for nausea and vomiting, so needless to say, those of us with gut health issues, should probably be enjoying this sweet and tangy drink on a regular basis.

This recipe is simple, and absolutely up to you as to how you prefer your tea, so I’ll keep this short and sweet.

Boil about 1-2 cups of water, depending on how much tea you want to consume in that moment. Once you’ve brought the water to a boil, throw in a few slices of fresh, organic ginger root. I usually cut about 2-4 slices that are around 2 inches in length, and 1/2 an inch in width.

Bring the water to a simmer, and allow the ginger root to soak and steep for about 15-20 minutes. The longer you steep, the stronger the tea, but again, this is all up to your own flavor preference.

After you’ve steeped the ginger, and can smell the spicy sweet aroma, coming off the steam of the pot, strain the water and pour it into your favorite mug. Cut a slice of lemon and squeeze it into the ginger tea. If you prefer a more ginger prominent flavor, only squeeze in a slice about the size of 1/4 of a lemon. If you prefer a more tart and tangy flavor, to add more kick to the spicy sweetness of the ginger, squeeze in half a lemon.

Feel free to sweeten with honey or maple syrup!
